“Words and images - that’s it. That pretty much describes my current paintings. My mother, Kate Hattam was a gifted reader, and there is such a thing. So began my love of reading, added to an artist father creating a world of images. In 2004 they had both died; us children divided, among other things, the books. I had many double ups. By way of celebrating her I recycled many creating a grid of pages on which to lay images. 19 years later this process persists but now words have crept into what we’re straight oil paintings.”

Out of this World mixed media on linen was made in 2023, a painting all about my love of the sea and the coast.
