Initially attending Photography Studies College Stephen went on to gain a BA (photography) from RMIT University. After working from various Melbourne studios as an illustrative photographer for over 20 years he now resides in Rye on the Mornington Peninsula.

“The camera employs a single glass eye that exclusively bears witness to a flat field, a plane of reflected light that exists but for a moment. A flash of photons recorded by a 12 megapixel sensor that does not distinguish as I do.

“Through reduction, disassembly and reassembly he explores what is and what may be. The recollection and recognition of moments, memories of place or objects are not generated from a single perspective, nor in a singular time frame, our pattern making mind stitches together a myriad of sensation to make a single memory which is unique to each observer. These images are an exploration of this.”
