Established in 2015 as a pop-up space, & Gallery operated in Spencer Street, Melbourne until 2018. In 2020, amid the uncertainty of COVID, founders Julie Collins and Derek John took a leap of faith to realise a long-held dream: opening a permanent contemporary art gallery in Sorrento, Victoria.

Despite ongoing disruptions, the gallery continued to expand its presence, presenting a six month pop-up at Federation Square in 2022, further strengthening its commitment to supporting contemporary artists and engaging new audiences.

To extend this vision beyond the gallery walls, & Art Motel opened in nearby Tootgarook - a bold fusion of contemporary art and boutique accommodation. Offering one and two bedroom apartments, the motel provides a creative coastal retreat for couples, families, and groups.

In September 2026 we closed our Morce Ave Sorrento location as we explore new locations in Sorrento or Melbourne.

In the meantime we will continue to promote our artists online, at the Art Motel and via a series of pop ups

& Gallery also offers art consultancy and collection advice, working with private collectors, businesses, and institutions.
